About the event
Event registration, schedule, and other documentation can be found here.
Barret Hill Farm is a fifth-generation family farm in Mason New Hampshire that has been in constant operation since its original "Kings land grant" in 1752. I am very familiar with it because it is MY family. My cousin Matt and his wife Beth asked me if I could interest the reenacting community in having events at their place! This year, due to timing, will be done as a living history with skirmishes in the cornfields for those interested. The 15th MA will be the host unit. This is our chance to "try out" the location. Next year it will be presented to both the LG and NEB as a full-scale event.
The living history will take place during one of the weekends that the farm hosts their haunted mile. The haunted trail through the cornfields will be adjacent to our camp(s). They would love participation from the reenactors in the haunted mile but it is not required, only requested.
The ground is spacious and beautiful with close parking, the Winter Rye will be a few weeks old when we set up camp so we are essentially camping on grass. They will provide Porta Johns and they will be "hidden" close to the camps for those who need to make that early morning visit. There is 50 cord of wood so we will not be running out, and water will be run close to the campsites. These folks are very gracious hosts. They are covering all the costs and not asking for any registration fee. Further, they are donating fresh beef, pork, apples, eggs, potatoes, winter squash, and other food to the reenactors!!! This could be the most affordable event of the year!
The event is on the weekend of October 22-24. I have asked, and expect, the camps will be open for move-in as early as Thursday the 21st. I would really like to see support in numbers. Please let me know if you can come as soon as possible
