The High-Water Mark of the Hobby, 135th Gettysburg.
The movies Glory and Gettysburg fueled the public interest in the Civil War. The last decade of the twentieth century would likely be the greatest decade for our hobby. The capstone of the nineties was the 135th-anniversary cycle, and as in history, the mother of all battles would be fought in Gettysburg. On July 5th, 1998, more than 20,000 Re-enactors from all over the world participated in the largest Historical Re-enactment ever held - on Bushy Farm, only 6 miles from the Gettysburg Battlefield. A full-scale Pickett's Charge / Longstreet's Assault was the culmination of the event.
